Some Oklahoma casinos reopening under strict restrictions Osage Casino Hotel CEO Byron Bighorse said they’re using the smaller casino in Ponca City to test their safety measures, using that feedback to improve things in Tulsa. Osage Casino is the first in Tulsa to reopen. The casino told FOX23 they’re encouraging guests to wear masks and gloves, and employees will be enforcing social distancing. Groups will be limited to. Brandon Scott, a spokesman for CNB, said an announcement of the schedule for reopening the Cherokee Nation’s 10 casinos in northeastern Oklahoma could come later this week. “We will be doing a staggered reopening, with the smaller casinos reopening first, ” said Scott, as reported by Tulsa World.

TULSA, Okla. — Oklahoma is officially in phase two of reopening.

More businesses and entertainment venues welcomed customers back on Friday.

Hundreds eagerly waited in line as Osage Casinos reopened six of its locations.

The casino doors reopened at 10 a.m. to a crowd of people waiting right outside, anxious to get in after the casino’s been closed for more than a month.

The casino is now limiting games and capacity, only allowing 1200 people in at a time.

Hundreds of people waited in line for a chance to try their luck and for a change in scenery.

“I was staying at home, being bored because I can’t get no where,” Kyle Deroussel said.

“I’m pretty excited to get out of the house after two months,' Jay Richey said. 'For the first time in 12 years, I haven’t had a grandkid to go to baseball games, because they’ve cancelled them all.”

Osage Casinos made several changes to social distancing and sanitation measures before reopening six locations.

Masks and gloves are recommended but not mandatory for guests.

Employees play a major role in sanitation measures, following behind players to clean the machines.

Many of the electronic games are off limits and shut down to allow more space between players.

The new restrictions, however, are not a problem for guests like Patt Free-Walker.

“We’re thrilled to be here. Actually my sister came with me,' Free-Walker said. “I’m happy to see the crowd here.”

Table games such as Black Jack, Craps and Roulette, are all closed off to players for now.

The temporary casino closures has been devastating for Osage Nation.

Leaders said the loss of revenue has impacted numerous programs, tribal economic development and other organizations they help fund.

Officials with Osage Casinos announced the opening of six remaining locations on May 15.

Officials say after the company cautiously reopened the Ponca City location last week and testing their sanitation and social distancing plans, they have decided to reopen their remaining six locations.

The electric gaming will reopen immediately. However, officials say the table games, hotels and seated food will stay closed until further notice. Beverage services will be available at all locations, except Pawhuska and Hominy.

All locations will have temporary hours:

Hominy, Pawhuska, Bartlesville: 2 p.m.-10 p.m.

Tulsa, Skiatook, Sand Springs, Ponca City: Sunday-Thursday 10 a.m.-12 a.m., Friday-Saturday 10 a.m.-2 a.m.

Below are the practices Osage Casinos is asking of patrons to adhere to social distancing:

Respecting personal space of at least 6 feet while in our casinos

Minimizing or avoiding any unnecessary contact between guests and Osage team members

Spacing out games and closing games that would cause guests to be in close contact with other guests

Having hand sanitizer, masks and gloves readily available

Restricting groups to 10 people or less

Limiting occupancy to 25% capacity

Encouraging guests to wear personal protective gloves and/or masks.

Encouraging guests 65 and older to shelter in place per the state and CDC recommendations.
